Yen has a Master of Teaching degree from Monash University as well as completing a Bachelor of Commerce Economics degree. From 2007 to 2015 she worked at Swinburne University of Technology as the Business Development Coordinator and the Special Projects Coordinator for Digital Frontiers – developing outreach projects in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) for children and tertiary students.

Yen is also the co-founder of Technology without Borders – an Australian student driven group that looks to improve access and understanding by serving the greater community through technology.

Over the past 8 years she has extended her work in global education through ‘Discovering without Borders’ - a social enterprise providing STEAM education for refugee and displaced communities, vulnerable women and children and low socio-economic communities.
